Skiing resort construction project at Mount Yamantau can be unfrozen

UFA, 7 December 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. In Bashkiria, there are several well-elaborated investment projects for the construction of ski resorts, which can be implemented in the format of a public-private partnership (PPP). In particular, these are projects in the Beloretsk, Burzyan, Kugarchy districts of the republic, Azamat Galin, the deputy chairman of the State Committee of Tourism RB, told Bashinform News Agency.
“Among others, we would like to revive the construction project of a ski resort at Mount Yamantau in the Beloretsk region,” said Galin. “If there is a good investor, we are ready to provide support and assistance, perhaps in a PPP format as, in my opinion, it is very promising”.
At the same time, according to Galina, the Beloretsk district itself should more actively carry out activities on finding an investor.
As previously reported, according to the Government RB, the development of Mount Kushtau as part of the soda production in Sterlitamak will not affect the tourist facilities of this mountain, in particular, the alpine skiing base and hiking routes in the next 30 years or so. The development of the mountain will begin on the other side, where there are no tourist facilities. During this time, new ski resorts are planned to be built in the republic.
Earlier the Acting Head of the republic Radiy Khabirov agreed with the Bashkir Soda Company of the Bashkhim Group on the development of Kushtau Shikhan, although the company itself insisted on transferring production to Toratau as a source of raw materials. According to BSC, Toratau has better quality reserves of raw materials, but the mountain is a natural monument and has a protective republican status. The available reserves of the Shakhtau Mount, which is developed currently, will run out in 2022.
