Municipal machinery operation will be controlled by GLONASS in Ufa

UFA, 4 December 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Sergey Nikolaev/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. In Ufa, a program for monitoring the operation of utilities by GLONASS sensors is being implemented on the basis of the city navigation information system (City NIS). Now about 800 vehicles of utility organizations of Ufa neighborhoods are connected to it.
At the heart of the service is an electronic map of the city with areas assigned to a particular vehicle. Thus you can remotely monitor the cleaning of streets and yards from the snow, sanding the roadway, watering the streets and other works.
“The management of district utility services is satisfied greatly with such a program,” said Vladislav Krysin, director of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Ufagortrans”. “It allows real-time tracking of the percentage of cleaned areas and promptly reacting in case of any problems, for example, sending reserve vehicles to the site during a period of heavy snowfall. The subscription fee for using the service per one monitored vehicle is only 200 rubles per month”.
In the future, utility vehicles will be equipped with sensors that transmit data on the operation of the special equipment.
The city navigation information system enables monitoring work even of individual employees of utility services. For example, check visits by plumbers of addresses on received applications, cleaning of the territory by janitors and generate analytical reports based on monitoring the activities of all employees of the housing department during the working day. For this purpose, a special program is installed on the cell phones of employees with a satellite navigation function, transmitting a signal about the owner's movement to the control center, and in the absence of such devices, an employee is issued a special tracker with a GLONASS sensor.
According to Vladislav Krysin, the introduction of the service is hindered by the financial factor. The low-cost phones of many employees in the utility services do not support the satellite navigation function, and a special tracker costs about 5 thousand rubles.
