Radiy Khabirov instructed to prepare proposals for incentive payments to young doctors

UFA, 29 November 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. Acting Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov instructed the republican Ministry of Health to prepare a package of proposals for incentive payments and other material benefits for medical graduates. Funds for these purposes will be allocated from the regional budget. Such a decision was made yesterday at a “Healthcare Hour” video-conference in the republican government.
According to the participants of the meeting, it would be more correct to channel additional funds to incentive payments for young doctors than to build, for example, one or two clinics for the same amount for the whole republic.
It is urgent to fill a personnel gap in hospitals and clinics, especially given the fact that the shortage of specialists is now felt not only in rural areas of Bashkortostan, but also in major cities of the republic, including Ufa, Salavat, Sterlitamak, and Oktyabrsky.
The Acting Head of the region also instructed the municipalities to meet with students of Bashkir State Medical University before the end of the year, so that, perhaps since the new year of 2019, medical residents would come to work at local hospitals.
According to the head of the republican Health Ministry, Rafael Yapparov, over four thousand students are currently studying at the medical university in Bashkiria, more than 700 of which will complete their studies in 2019. Of these, only 349 graduates will be employed in rural areas.
Meanwhile, as Vitaly Viktorov, vice rector of Bashkir State Medical University, said at the meeting, by 2021, the university would be ready to cover the shortage of primary care physicians and increase the number of students studying on employer-sponsored educational programs from 50 to 100 percent.
Another main focus, according to Radiy Khabirov, should be made on forming positive public attitudes towards medical workers.
