Radiy Khabirov and Cuban Ambassador discussed prospects for trade and economic cooperation

On November 29, the House of the Republic held a meeting of the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Russian Federation, Gerardo Peñalver Portal. The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the industrial, trade, economic and cultural spheres, according to the website of the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

“Our peoples have a very long and strong relationship. Together we have traveled a lengthy path”, said Radiy Khabirov. “Today, we have all the opportunities to develop actively. We are ready to move forward together”.

The head of the republic and the ambassador noted that our petroleum university, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, had made and continued to make a great contribution to the training of personnel for Cuban industry. According to Gerardo Peñalver Portal, most of the leaders of Cuban oil and gas enterprises graduated from the Ufa State Petroleum Technological University.

According to the parties, the most promising areas for cooperation are industry, energy, health care, and tourism. The Cuban Ambassador suggested discussing the possibility of supplying coffee, fruit, seafood, and products of Cuban agricultural producers to Bashkortostan. In addition, Gerardo Peñalver Portal invited the delegation of Bashkortostan led by Radiy Khabirov to visit Cuba in 2019. According to the ambassador, such a visit will further strengthen trade and economic cooperation.
