Ufa railway station will be completed by 100th anniversary of Bashkortostan foundation
UFA, 22 November 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Azat Gizatullin/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. In 2019, when Bashkortostan will celebrate its 100th anniversary since its foundation, all unfinished works at the Ufa railway station should be completed, the Acting Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov said during a media scrum after a meeting with the leadership of Russian Railways.
The reconstruction of the Ufa railway station began in 2004. It was planned that initially it would be opened to another anniversary - the 450th anniversary of the entry of Bashkiria into Russia, which was widely celebrated in 2007. Later, the complex was planned to be launched to the SCO and BRICS International Summits (held in Ufa in the summer of 2015). During this time, the cost of work has doubled - from 1.25 to 3 billion rubles. The cost of works to complete the reconstruction of the station in Ufa in September 2017 was estimated at 1 billion 145 million rubles, of which Russian Railways should have allocated about 842 million rubles, and the Republic of Bashkortostan - 303 million rubles.
The RBC-Ufa website reported that the region secured funding for ground reinforcement works, construction of storm sewers, engineering, and water supply networks. Russian Railways will undertake the reconstruction of the existing station building, an underground pedestrian crossing and platforms No. 2 and 3 with adaptation for people with limited mobility. A new passenger platform No. 4 will also be built, to which the underground walkway will be extended.
During the meeting, the Acting Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov told Oleg Belozerov about the project “Legends of the Urals”. Last season, trains traveling along this popular route carried more than 10,000 lovers of winter tourism.
“It’s a very positive experience. But we have a little lack of rolling stock there. We asked them to help us”, said Radiy Khabirov.
This year, the movement of the train «Legends of the Urals» on the route Ufa - Novoabzakovo will resume on November 30.
