UFA, 22 November 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Azat Gizatullin/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. Ufa should be included in the construction project of a "Moscow-Yekaterinburg" high-speed railway line. This was discussed on November 21, at a working meeting of the Acting Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov and the CEO - Chairman of the Russian Railways Board Oleg Belozerov in Moscow as part of the 12th International Forum “Transport of Russia”, the press service of the head of the region reports.
“This topic is of critical importance for us. You know that there is a project for the Moscow-Yekaterinburg high-speed railway line. We have discussed the issue so that Ufa will not remain outside this route. It was very important for us to gain a foothold in this large and necessary Russian project. We should have our part there too, so that our residents can also reach Moscow and Yekaterinburg very quickly, using this high-speed railway line”, said Radiy Khabirov answering journalists’ questions after the meeting.
“We have agreed to create a working group, because now we would like to carry out territorial planning, to prepare for this big event, which, I emphasize, is designed for years to come. This is a strategic planning”, the head of the region emphasized.
Radiy Khabirov wrote on his Facebook page that Bashkiria appeared on the map of a new global international project - the creation of an Integrated High-Speed Eurasian Railway Transport Network.
"Of its total length of tens of thousands of kilometers across two continents, several thousand will be laid across Russia by 2030. The project is long-term and complicated, but our historical task is to be involved in it, because we can become much closer to the economic and political centers of Russia, Europe, and Asia", the head of Bashkortostan shared his opinion.
Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Innokenty Alafinov said that a high-speed railway line (VSM) and a highway from Moscow to the Ural region could be built by 2031. At present, the construction of the Moscow-Kazan railway line is being developed, which is included in the comprehensive plan for the development of the trunk infrastructure. Until the end of 2024, it is going to implement the first stage of the project - a construction of the high-speed railway from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod and the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod-Kazan highway.
