Bashkiria leading cheese producer will double its production

UFA, 6 November 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. By the end of 2020, the Belebeevsky Dairy Plant will modernize its production, after which it will be able to double its output. This was reported by the Ministry of Economic Development RB.

It was decided to amend the investment agreement in terms of increasing the volume of private investment and working out issues to increase the number of subsidized equipment purchases regarding the priority investment project - JSC “Belebeevsky Dairy Plant”. The amendments are connected with the joining of the “Savencia” international group, which is one of the world leaders in the field of milk processing and cheese production, the ministry’s press service reports.

The joint project will increase the volume of milk processing from 168 to 200 thousand tons per year, the production of hard cheeses from 13.5 to 16 thousand tons per year and launch a new production of elite soft cheeses using French technology. It is assumed that reaching the design capacity will allow the plant to retain the “title” of the largest cheese producer in Russia.

In March this year, a large French company, Savencia Fromage & Dairy, acquired a majority stake in the company. The new owner is involved in the investment project and invests its own funds in the development.

In turn, the Government of the republic undertakes to provide subsidies for the purchase of equipment. The total investment will amount to 2.4 million rubles. 72 jobs will be created.

As previously reported, Savencia plans to start producing soft cheeses (varieties with a creamy or cottage cheese texture) in the city of Belebey.

The installation works of the cheese whey drying production line are underway and a site is being prepared for the construction of a new experimental workshop.
