Bashkir honey will be examined for hormones and antibiotics content

UFA, 9 October 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Rozaliya Valeeva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. It will be possible to determine up to 600 indicators of the residual content of antibiotics in the Bashkir honey. Azamat Bukanov, Deputy Director of the Bashkir Scientific and Production Veterinary Laboratory, told about the plans for equipping the facilities.
At present, it is possible to determine up to 36 bee diseases at the laboratory and approve finished products for sale.
“This year, accreditation for infectious diseases was carried out, diagnostics of 30 viral diseases is now available. They can be detected on a liquid and gas chromatography and by means of a polymerase chain reaction,” said Azamat Bukanov.
The laboratory will be updated and expanded by the World Beekeepers Forum "Apimondia" in Ufa. It will consist of two departments.
One department will study the diseases of bees using separate rooms of bacteriology, parasitology, and virology. The most modern equipment for pcr-based diagnostics will be installed here.
Honey and bee products will be examined in three rooms. One room will be designed for sample preparation, the second for organoleptic analysis, and the third for biochemical studies. Devices that will be able to determine up to 600 indicators (residual antibiotics), 700 pesticides will be installed there. In addition, the devices will be able to determine a falsification of honey, as well as the salt content of heavy metals.
Total, the equipment of the laboratory will cost about 20-40 million rubles.
“According to the project, it is planned to use the imported equipment to ensure that Bashkir honey and beekeeping products comply with the norms of the customs union and international standards. The laboratory specialists will be trained abroad”, explained Azamat Bukanov.
