Bashkiria will establish trade relations with Samarkand region

UFA, 4 October 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. The Government of Bashkiria intends to enter into economic cooperation with the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan. The delegation of regional business circles headed by the deputy hokim (governor) of the Samarkand region Otabek Babayev visited Ufa. It was welcomed by the Prime Minister of Bashkortostan Rustem Mardanov. As reported by the Government of the republic, it was about establishing mutually beneficial relations. The Uzbek side proposed to bring products manufactured by Bashkir enterprises to their market and offered to supply dried fruits and textiles.

The agreement will be signed in Tashkent on the margins of the Russian-Uzbek Forum, which will be opened on October 18.

According to the State Committee RB on Foreign Economic Relations, the turnover between the republic and Uzbekistan in 2017 was about $ 65 million. Five years ago, the trade brought $ 250 million.

Bashkiria supplies to Uzbekistan mainly chemical products, petroleum products, ferrous metals, and products from them, wood products, cardboard, engineering products, equipment, food, textiles, and others.

Textiles and food products, metal products, mineral products are imported from Uzbekistan to the republic.

3.7 million people live in the Samarkand region (the population of the capital is 530 thousand people). This is the main tourist region of the country. Samarkand is one of the oldest cities in the world, many architectural masterpieces of the Middle Ages are located there.
