Ufa is included in Top 10 ranking of regional event potential

By the end of 2017, the capital of Bashkortostan was in the eighth position in terms of events attractiveness among the Russian cities, while at the end of 2016 it was the 11th. This was announced at the "Event Map of Russia" conference, which is held by the National Congress Bureau in Ufa today. About 200 participants from all over Russia engaged in business tourism participate in the conference.

The first three lines in the regional event potential ranking were occupied by St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg and Sochi. The criteria for assessing cities were the technical level of facilities in the region, promotion and positioning of the region, the experience of major events holding, recreational opportunities.

As the head of the National Congress Bureau Alexei Kalachev said, Bashkiria has become a promising region for the development of event tourism after the SCO and BRICS Summits taken place in the city in 2015. The infrastructure emerged in the region - the Congress Hall and hotels. The regional Congress Bureau established on the eve of the Summits played an important role in the process.

At this stage, Alexei Kalachev noted the upcoming major events in Bashkiria - the holding of international congresses World Folklore Festival in 2020 and "Apimondia" in 2021.

"Attracting events to the region is not a fast process", Alexei Kalachev said. "The planning time-frame is 3-5 years. Ufa is one of the key destinations for us. The National Congress Bureau now is forming 30 applications for various events, including international ones, in the regions of the country, and Ufa is considered as one of the venues".

According to Alexei Kalachev, four events with the number of participants to 500 people give a turnover of about 300 million rubles. In order to be competitive in this market, the region needs to develop both a congress component, and an entertaining one, and competently make offers to potential customers.
