Bashkortostan was visited by 6 million people since beginning of year - Rustem Khamitov

UFA, 19 September 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. For eight months of 2018, Bashkortostan was visited by 6 million people. The Head of the Republic Rustem Khamitov reported this at a press-conference in TASS. The head of the region stressed that these figures significantly exceeded the figures of previous years.

According to the State Committee RB for Entrepreneurship and Tourism, only according to official calculations, from the beginning of the year 1,7 million tourists came to have rest in our republic. Also, a significant number of visitors arrive in Bashkortostan for business trips, to take sanatorium-and-spa treatment in the health resorts of the republic.

Rustem Khamitov recalled that even in the Soviet times the republic was a very attractive recreation area.

“Tourists came to see our intact nature, beautiful rivers, and mountains. Then due to various reasons, this tourist flow slowed down. Seven to eight years ago we actually undertook to restore it", the Head of Bashkortostan said.

The Head of the Region noted that following the results of 2017, Bashkortostan ranked 11th in the rating of the tourist regions of the Russian Federation. According to Rustem Khamitov, today the republic causes touristic interest among representatives of many large countries: China, India, the states of Central Asia.

“We have outstanding beautiful places, which need to be accomplished. The republic is included in the number of prominent regions, with lots of interesting and important sights", said Rustem Khamitov.
