Non-cash payments increased by 23 percent in Bashkiria

UFA, 17 September 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.In January-June, 2018, Bashkiria residents used bank cards for non-cash payments by 23% more than in the first six months of last year, the National Bank of the Republic reports.
The amount of money spent cashless also increased by 23% and reached 134 billion rubles. This is 27% of the total consumer spending of the population.
"The market of payment services is traditionally developing: residents are increasingly using bank cards to pay for goods and services. This is also promoted by active development of payment infrastructure in the region. Thus, the number of non-cash payments terminals increased by one quarter compared to the first half of 2017. As a result, we see that an average inhabitant of Bashkortostan uses his/her card by four times more for purchases than for cash withdrawal", said Marat Kashapov, the head of the National Bank's Department of the Ural Central Bank of Russia for Bashkortostan.
Total, by July 1, the residents of the republic were issued 6.4 million bank cards, 10% of which – were credit ones.
The "Mir" cards issued in the amount of 1 million pieces show significant growth. One-quarter of the total population of Bashkortostan now have such cards.
