January-August inflation was below Russian average in Bashkiria

UFA, 10 September 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Elvira Latypova/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. Consumer prices for goods and services in Bashkortostan increased by 2.1% from January to August. This is less than nationwide - 2.4%, but much more than during the same period of the last year (1%), Bashkortostan Statistics Agency reports.
In August, prices fell slightly (by 0.01%). They were constrained by the seasonal reduction in the price of fruit and vegetable products (by 8.8%), especially beets, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers (by 21-28%) and potatoes (by 19.4%). Other food products went up by 0.3%. As a result, the food segment as a whole added 1.8% for the month.
The non-food goods became more expensive by 2.1% in August. The gasoline fuel (by 8.5%) and certain types of tobacco products (by 1.3-3.3%) showed the greatest increase in prices.
The services sector was also marked by a rise in prices - by 2.5% per month. Consumer loans went up by 7%, services for raising children (by 4.4%). It became more expensive to fly by air (by 3%) and to go by taxi (by 1.3%).
In the regions of the Volga Federal District, inflation in January-August to December of the last year was in the range from 1.5% in Mordovia to 3.1% in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
