Bashkortostan is leader in tax efficiency along with Moscow and Khanty-Mansiysk District

Bashkortostan took the third place in a rating of regional tax efficiency by the results of 2017, compiled by the international consulting company PwC. The first positions of the rating are taken by Moscow and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District.

Analysts established how efficiently the powers granted in terms of tax policy are used in the regions. Factors such as the introduction of the calculation of corporate property tax based on cadastre, the establishment of a patent cost for migrants, provision of tax benefits, and others were taken into account.

"The results of the rating for the third year in a row confirm a statement that non-subsidized regions and regions with a low level of subsidies (less than 1% of the tax and non-tax revenues of the region) use more powers in the sphere of tax policy than subsidized ones", it is said in PwC reports.

Astrakhan and Smolensk regions, the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania are among the outsiders (83-85 positions).
