Rustem Khamitov: "We do not allow environmentally harmful production to appear in our republic"

UFA, 7 June 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. Yesterday, in Ufa the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov spoke at a plenary session of the International Ecological Forum, which takes place in the "VDNKH-Expo" exhibition complex.

Issues of environmental policy of industrial enterprises, economic incentives for the "green economy" development, innovative projects in the field of waste processing were considered at the plenary meeting "Best Available Technologies: Ecology or Economics".

According to the head of the republic, a collision of economic and environmental approaches is often inevitable. In this case, the regional authorities rely on the approach of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin who stated clearly that when determining a priority of the criteria "money or ecology", the choice should be made unambiguously in favor of environmental protection.

“I can tell with all responsibility that we do not allow the emergence of environmentally harmful productions in the Republic of Bashkortostan or the creation of open threats to the environment and health of citizens by operating enterprises. This is our steady and principled stand, which we adhere to”, Rustem Khamitov stated.

The head of the republic also got acquainted with an exposition of the 3rd specialized exhibition "Ecology. Technologies. Life", talked to the participants of master classes.

The program of the forum, which will last until June 8, covers about 16 business events, including panel discussions and roundtables with the participation of leading environmental experts from different regions of the country. In addition, the "Take Care of Your Planet" children's festival, a photo exhibition "Reserve Bashkiria", a charitable campaign "Window to the World", an opening of the photo exhibition "100 Women of the Republic: Strength and Tenderness", master classes, lectures and seminars for public will be carried out.
