Rustem Khamitov: "Regional Export Standard introduction gave good impetus"

Yesterday, the Head of Bashkortostan, Rustem Khamitov, delivered a speech at a business discussion "Russian Regions Export - Overcoming New Barriers" organized by the Russian Export Center within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The Head of the Republic spoke about the development of the Bashkortostan export potential and supporting exporting enterprises practices.

Rustem Khamitov noted that the export theme is very complex and largely new for the regions. Despite the fact that there are such large exporters as Bashneft in Bashkortostan, the issue of supporting non-primary non-energy exports is currently on the agenda. Today it already reaches about 40 percent of the total volume of exports in the republic. It is estimated that it will reach approximately $ 2 billion in 2018.

“There are about 800 exporting enterprises in the republic, while 90 percent are small and medium-sized enterprises. We will certainly support this business activity, and the export segment as a whole", Rustem Khamitov said. “By 2030 it is planned to increase the number of republican exporters by half, and the volume of non-raw exports - three times.”

“In general, the Regional Export Standard implementation gave a good impetus to the pilot regions. Something will have to be adjusted, based on the May presidential decree of the Russian Federation, and to achieve annual growth of non-primary non-energy exports and export of services”, Rustem Khamitov noted.

In his speech, the Head of the Republic announced proposals on the improvement of this activity, including proposals received from enterprises. Among them, there is an expansion of the list of Regional Export Standard support tools for exporters of services, simplification of procedures and reduction in terms of their provision.

The head of the region also suggested revising the list of products approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, according to which the state can reimburse up to 80 percent of the costs incurred by exporters when transported by land transport. This is due to the fact that, for example, the range of non-primary products produced in the republic is wider than this list.
