Rustem Khamitov: "Investments should be concentrated in oil refining and petrochemical enterprises modernization"

UFA, 23 May 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.Yesterday in Ufa the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov spoke at a plenary session "Russia in Global Trends in Oil and Gas Chemical Industry Development" of the Russian Oil and Gas and Chemical Forum, which takes place at the "VDNKh-Expo" Exhibition Center.
Before the beginning of the meeting, the head of the region examined an exposition of the 26th international exhibition "Gas. Oil. Technologies - 2018", where 350 leading industry companies from 10 countries and 32 regions of Russia are represented. Almost 80 percent of the exhibited products are of Russian origin. A quarter of exhibitors are enterprises of Bashkortostan.
Opening the meeting, Rustem Khamitov noted that Russia - one of the leaders of the global fuel and energy market - had a huge impact on the overall situation in the industry. As a result of last year, our country has become an absolute leader in oil production and the world's second largest producer of gas.
At the same time, according to the Head of the Republic, the depth of oil processing still remains at 81 percent. A benchmark of 91 percent is set forth in the Energy Strategy of the country until 2035. Although, globally it reaches 95-97 percent today.
"To achieve this level, we need a real breakthrough, as President Vladimir Putin mentioned in his Address",  Rustem Khamitov said. "Investments should be concentrated in oil refining and petrochemical enterprises modernization, in the growth of quality and practical impact of research and development. "
Among the most active companies of the republic from the point of view of investment activity, the Head of Bashkortostan named the subsidiaries of Rosneft, Bashneft, and Gazprom and talked about their plans to implement major investment projects.
Speaking about import substitution, the head of the region stressed that the enterprises of the republic had all the necessary competencies and were able to produce high-quality products of the world level.
The plenary session also considered the priority directions of scientific developments, the opportunities and prospects of Russian technologies in the field of oil and gas chemistry, the trends in the field of oil refining, the issues of import substitution and gasification.
The program of the forum, which will last until May 25, includes about 30 business events - international conferences, sections, seminars, round tables.
