Poverty level should be decreased by half in republic for six years - Rustem Khamitov

UFA, 15 May 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/. At a meeting on implementation of the Decree of the President of Russia "On national goals and strategic tasks for the Russian Federation development until 2024" the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov underlined the key economic indicators, which our republic should reach in the next six years.
The head of the region stressed that the implementation of the May 2012 decrees in terms of increasing the wages of workers in the public sector, raising real incomes of the population remained important. Despite the fact that Bashkortostan is a successful republic with a rapidly developing economy, half a million people today have incomes below the subsistence level. This is 12.3 percent of the population of the republic.
"Low wages and incomes, especially in rural areas, is a serious factor limiting the growth of our economy and the quality of life," said Rustem Khamitov. “It is planned to reduce the level of poverty in the republic from the current 12.3 to 11.8 percent, and by 2030 to 11.2 percent in the Strategy-2030 by 2024. These are certainly quite ambitious goals. And as part of the implementation of the Presidential Decree, by 2024, this indicator should be increased to six-seven percent. That is, to decrease the poverty level by half.
The head of the republic also reminded about the necessity to increase the average per capita gross regional product by one and a half times - from 350 to 540 thousand rubles per capita.
“We have a clear understanding in what direction we should direct our efforts. We should change the situation in agriculture radically, as there are very low incomes there,” said Rustem Khamitov.
