Meat and milk production decreased in Bashkiria

UFA, 17 April 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. The production of milk, as well as livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight, decreased in the republic compared to January-March of 2017, Bashkortostan Statistics Agency reports.

In the first three months of this year, Bashkiria produced 72,000 tons of meat and poultry meat and 332,000 tons of milk. This is by 5.8 and 1.1 percent less than a year ago.

Traditionally, most of the produced livestock products fell on agricultural organizations.

The production of eggs in the republic increased insignificantly - by 0.1 percent - and reached 251.8 million pieces.

Statisticians also recorded decline in the number of livestock in Bashkortostan. By April 1, 2018, in Bashkiria, there were 1054.8 thousand heads of cattle. Of these, 422.4 thousand were accounted for cows.

The livestock of pigs was 444.9 thousand, sheep and goats - 838.7 thousand heads. In comparison with January-March of 2017, the number of cattle decreased by 2.2 percent, pigs - by 3.2 percent, sheep and goats - by 0.9 percent.
