Bashkiria and Turkey strengthen trade and economic ties

On March 29, in Moscow, at the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in the Russian Federation, a delegation of Bashkortostan met with representatives of the embassy and business circles of Turkey. It is organized on the eve of 2019, announced by the Crossing Year of Culture and Tourism of Russia and Turkey. As previously reported, the delegation of Bashkiria included representatives of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, republican authorities, the State Committee for Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Bashkortostan, and the business community. The delegation was headed by the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan Rustem Mardanov.

The participants of the meeting discussed cooperation development between Bashkortostan and Turkey in such areas as petrochemicals, construction, and tourism. The Turkish Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia Hüseyin Dirioz stressed that the main objective of the talks was to create favorable conditions for obtaining real results in investment activities.

"Bashkortostan has rich natural and economic opportunities. We hope that representatives of the Turkish business with the support of the Government of the republic will contribute to the development of Bashkortostan: Turkish businessmen can bring the volume of investments to $ 10.5 billion by 2025," the Turkish Ambassador to Russia said. "We believe that Bashkortostan occupies an important place in the sphere of sanatorium recreation, and we are ready to assist in terms of its promotion in our media market."

The sides noted the long-standing trade and economic ties between the republics and expressed hope for their further strengthening. To date, Bashkiria employs more than 40 enterprises and organizations created with the participation of Turkish capital.

Representatives of Bashkiria presented the economic and investment potential of the region. The Chairman of the State Committee for Foreign Economic Relations Ruslan Mirsayapov briefed the attendees with the economic indicators of the republic and the priority areas of cooperation in the field of petrochemistry, construction, production of equipment, food, textiles, and furniture.

The press service of the State Committee RB for Foreign Economic Relations reported that business negotiations between representatives of the business of Turkey and Bashkortostan took place. According to their results, Turkish businessmen will consider a possibility of implementing investment projects in mono-cities in Bashkortostan. The exchange of delegations of the business community for participation in the specialized events held in Turkey and in Bashkortostan will be intensified. For example, in the framework of the next Small Business Forum of the SCO and BRICS countries in October this year in Ufa, it is planned to organize a roundtable for businessmen of Bashkortostan and Turkey. In turn, representatives of the business community of Bashkiria are invited to participate in the traditional Izmir Fair in September 2018. Also, within the framework of the Cross Year of Culture and Tourism of Russia and Turkey, a number of events are planned to be held in Bashkortostan.
