Forbes compiled rating of most reliable Russian banks

UFA, 22 March 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. Rosbank, Unicredit Bank, Raiffeisenbank - subsidiaries of foreign banks topped the rating of 100 reliable Russian banks - 2018 by Forbes magazine. Sberbank, which topped last year's rating, took the fourth place this year, TASS reported.
"A bank taking a high place in the reliability rating of Forbes confirms that it can be relied upon in making investment decisions. All banks participating in last year's reliability rating were able to survive the ongoing cleanup of the financial sector by the Bank of Russia (last year, about 50 licenses were withdrawn)", Forbes notes.
Total, 13 banks proved to be the most reliable banks against 11 a year ago. It included subsidiaries of foreign banks and the largest Russian banks with ratings of BBB- and BB + (Fitch).
The lines from the fifth to the 13th of this group are held by Citibank, Nordea, VTB, Bank of China, Intesa, Gazprombank, Alfa-Bank, Rosselkhozbank and the Russian Capital bank. Moreover, "Nordea" and "Russian capital" fell into this category for the first time.
The second group included 19 fairly reliable banks with ratings of BB and BB- (Fitch), whose stability "largely depends on a favorable business environment."
"Even if the economic situation worsens, they will have access to alternative financial resources to fulfill their obligations," the publication stresses.
Among them there are the All-Russian Bank for Regional Development, OTP Bank, Zenit, AB Russia, Moscow Credit Bank, Sovcombank, RosEvroBank, Chelindbank, Tinkoff Bank, Avers, Bank Saint Petersburg.
