Rustem Khamitov suggested setting up forest fires monitoring center in Bashkiria

UFA, 2 March 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. The Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov suggested establishing a center for monitoring forest fires in the regions of the Volga Federal District in the republic. Today, on March 2, a meeting was held in Ufa, chaired by Mikhail Babich, the Presidential Envoy to the Volga Federal District, on improving forest management efficiency, as well as interaction in forest fire prevention and elimination.
Rustem Khamitov reminded that there was a space information receiving center with two complexes for receiving data from satellites and a supercomputer at Ufa State Aviation University. "There are all competencies here, only a small modernization should be done. After a launch of the system, the information will be transferred to the headquarters of the regions promptly and free of charge", the head of the republic offered.
He informed that the region had a round-the-clock forestry service and was monitored through the remote monitoring and ground control information system. Aviation patrols more than 4 million hectares of forest fund (total area - 6 million hectares).
In the current year, a full-scale operation of UAVs connected to the CCTV system will be started. This project is implemented jointly with the Russian Space Systems Corporation.
In addition, space technology will be able solve one more pressing industry problem - updating the databases. "We are ready to act as a pilot region for application of new forest management technologies. The population density allows such work to be carried out, technical solutions are also available", Rustem Khamitov noted.
