Air pollution in industrial cities of Bashkiria is not growing - Ecology Ministry RB

UFA, 15 February 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. A pollution index in large industrial cities of Bashkortostan is not growing; they are not included in the black list of the dirtiest cities in Russia. This is the most important result of systematic work regarding the atmospheric air protection, the head of the department Ildar Khadyev, noted at the final board of the Ministry of Ecology of Bashkortostan.
Emissions into the air decreased by 50,000 tons per year due to the technical re-equipment of enterprises, for which about 676 million rubles were spent.
Gazprom transgaz Ufa reduced methane emissions by 32 thousand tons per year. Modernization of gas purifying equipment "Tuymazitehuglerod" reduced carbon emissions by 12.5 thousand tons per year at a relatively low cost of 3.7 million rubles. "Bashkir Generation Company" reduced emissions by 3.2 thousand tons per year. Emissions of harmful substances decreased by 2.8 thousand tons per year at the facilities of the Bashneft-Dobycha as a result of the technical re-equipment.
In 2017 the construction of two more automatic stations for monitoring atmospheric air pollution in Salavat and Ufa began. The project of the Ufa station was financed by the Social Target Programs Fund in the amount of 13.75 million rubles. In Salavat the station was built on the means of the city budget.
In the republic there are 146 enterprises under the federal control that issue more than 80% of all pollutant emissions. Since 2019, legislation provides for the installation of sensors on emission sources. "It will be possible to control air quality by receiving information from them and from automatic stations for monitoring atmospheric air pollution. In 2018, the work on their installation will continue, and the assistance of municipalities is extremely important ", said Ildar Khadyev.
Over the past five years, the atmospheric pollution index, according to the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Bashkortostan, declined in Ufa from 9 to 3, in Sterlitamak from 12 to 3, in Salavat from 6 to 3, in Tuimazy from 5 to 3, in Blagoveshchensk - from 5 to 2 (with gradation: 7-13 - high pollution, 5-6 - high, 0-4 - low).
