Agriculture should be based on economic approach - Rustem Khamitov
UFA, 2 February 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/. Agrarians of the republic should make economic calculations in view of market demand when choosing a priority area of work, including during the preparation for the sowing campaign. This was stated by the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov at a meeting on preparations for the spring field campaign.
“Last year clearly showed that production growth was not always positive. The surplus of products not backed by demand dropped the prices to such an extent that some farmers failed to repay the costs incurred," said the head of the republic.
The head of the region instructed the Ministry of Agriculture to intensify work with industry unions, agribusiness in terms of forecasting the required volumes of products, taking into account market demands.
"The industry should be focused on economy. Before you set any targets, you need to do well-adjusted economic calculations", stressed Rustem Khamitov. One of the directions of such work, according to the Head of the Republic, is processing development, especially by medium and small enterprises. For them, there are such mechanisms of state support as preferential lending, subsidizing the purchase of equipment for processing and packaging.
"The republic has successfully mastered production of cheeses. It is necessary to intensify the processing of poultry and pork, grain, vegetables, fruits. We can produce different products, such as dried vegetables, various borscht kits, jams, something that we do not make today", said Rustem Khamitov. "Perhaps, it is necessary to adopt a program for the development of processing industry and logistics, providing for financing of projects based on public private partnerships.
