Import of banned products to Bashkiria reduced by half

UFA, 26 January 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Daria Petrova/. In 2017, the volume of import of banned products to Bashkiria decreased more than twofold. The head of the regional department of the Rosselkhoznadzor Yuri Petrov told this at the regular meeting of the State Assembly - Kurultay RB. If in 2016 18,2 tons of such products were illegally imported to the republic, then in 2017 - 8.1 tons.
According to the official, raids are conducted at retail shops and wholesale bases. Agricultural products, raw materials and food from the USA, EU countries, Canada, Australia, Norway, Ukraine, Albania, Montenegro, Iceland and Liechtenstein are prohibited.
"Those who knowingly or unknowingly import such products violate Russian legislation", Yuri Petrov said.
According to the department, in 2017 2.7 tons of "banned" Turkish tomatoes, 2.5 tons of pears, 1.2 tons of Peking cabbage, 848 kg of apples, 75 kg of sweet pepper and 39 kg of salad from Poland, 690 kg of Spanish peaches and 62 cheeses from Germany were imported to our republic. All products were seized and destroyed.
