Russians actively visited cafes and restaurants during New Year holidays

UFA, 22 January 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. During the winter holidays, Russians visited public catering facilities more often than shops, Izvestia found out. The number of bills in the catering industry exceeded the number of purchases in supermarkets by 20%. Just a year ago - in January 2017, the food retail industry dominated, according to the data of the operator "Platform OFD", received directly from online cash registers. Experts identify two reasons for this sharp increase in eating out: development of domestic tourism and reduction in the price difference between home and restaurant dishes.
