Rosselkhoznadzor banned import of animals and birds from Switzerland

The Rosselkhoznadzor banned imports of cattle and poultry from Switzerland to Russia; the ban also concerns livestock products, «Izvestia» reports. An outbreak of dangerous diseases is named as a cause of the ban. It entered into force since December 22.

It is specified that the import of live poultry, eggs, poultry meat and all kinds of poultry products that have not undergone heat treatment is prohibited due to Newcastle disease. It is also forbidden to import feed and additives for birds. Import in Russia, in particular, of large and small cattle, sheep, camels, wild and circus animals is prohibited because of an outbreak of the bluetongue disease, RBC reports.
