Sugar production increased, shipping for export began in Bashkiria

UFA, 25 December 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. A good harvest of sugar beet allowed increasing production of sugar in Bashkiria by 10 percent and starting its shipment for export, the Ministry of Agriculture of the region reports.

Three sugar refineries with a total capacity of 11,000 tons per day are currently processing sugar beets in the republic, which are provided with raw materials from 24 beet growing areas: OJSC "Chishminsky Sugar Factory", JSC "Meleuzovsky Sugar Factory" and LLC "Raevsahar".

By December 22, factories harvested 1.3 million tons of sugar beet in the test weight, processed 1.1 million tons, produced 160.4 thousand tons of sugar.

Chishminsky Sugar Factory exported sugar to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Georgia and Turkey for a total of 7.3 thousand tons, or 13.5% of the volume produced this year.

In addition, 11.3 thousand tons of sugar is contracted for delivery to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

As noted by the agrarian department of Bashkiria, the last three years the area of sugar beet crops averages 50 thousand hectares. This year the gross harvest of sugar beet amounted to 1.6 million tons, which is 14.7 percent more than the last year.
