Efforts to prevent forest fires should be intensified - Rustem Khamitov

UFA, 8 November 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. Issues of the forest fund fire safety were discussed today at a meeting of the permanent coordination council on the law enforcement in the region, which was held by the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov.

According to the head of the republic this year there were 38 forest fires, while the overwhelming part of them was a result of careless handling of fire, due to plain negligence. Almost 500 citizens were brought to administrative responsibility for violations of fire safety rules in the forests. In 163 cases they were committed during a special fire prevention regime.

“I would like to say that violations during the fire prevention regime are simply flagrant. The imposed fines totaled more than 4 million rubles, although the amount of the fine given to one person is only 8,000 rubles. Losses may be estimated in tens, hundreds of millions of rubles, and we penalize them by 8,000 rubles for making fires during a dry, fire-dangerous season, neglecting other precautions", stressed Rustem Khamitov. “Of course, our efforts to prevent fires, violations, must be intensified in all directions.”
