Investments in new production at Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat will exceed several billion dollars - Rustem Khamitov

UFA, 2 November 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. At present, the issue of creating a production complex for natural gas processing into ethylene and propylene at Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat LLC is being developed. Investments in the project may exceed several billion dollars. This was stated by the Head of the Republic Rustem Khamitov at a meeting of the Commission for Regional Policy of PJSC Gazprom.
"Our republic earlier consumed 20 billion cubic meters of gas annually. Now it consumes 15 billion cubic meters. Gazprom could leave 2-5 billion cubic meters of gas per year for deep processing in the territory of the republic", said Rustem Khamitov. "There are current projects, including with the Chinese company Wison on creating a complex for processing natural gas into ethylene and propylene. This would be promising and necessary for the corporation, our country and the gas chemistry in general. "
According to him, the issue of implementing an investment project with Gazprom and the Chinese company was discussed during a meeting with the Chairman of the Gazprom Board Alexei Miller last week.
The initiative of the republic was supported by the Deputy Chairman of the Board of PJSC Gazprom, Valery Golubev.
"Of course, the processing project with separation of ethylene and polyethylene is very interesting for us. This is an opportunity for additional sales of about 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas", he said. "At the same time, all necessary technical facilities are available for this - gas transmission capacities, free production sites, resources - electricity, heat, water. There are high competent people working in the scientific complex of the republic and with our company Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat. Therefore, there are all prerequisites for the emergence of a new enterprise in the next three to five years (depending on the investment cycle). "
