1700 heads of cattle were destroyed because of foot and mouth disease - Ministry of Agriculture

UFA, 17 October 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. In Bashkiria, 1.7 thousand heads of cattle were seized and destroyed during the elimination of the consequences of the foot and mouth disease virus outbreak. Basically, it is beef cattle, goats and sheep, the Ministry of Agriculture RB explained. As reported by the Bashinform News Agency, the foot and mouth disease virus was detected in two districts - Tuymazy and Buzdyak.

According to the preliminary data, the reason could be the import of foot-and-mouth disease carriers from the regions of Central Asia.

The Investigative Committee RB initiated a criminal case under the article "Violation of veterinary regulations".

The foot and mouth disease is a particularly dangerous viral disease of animals that can infect humans too. The disease causes serious damage to cattle breeding.
