Prices for food have fallen for the first time since 2011 - Rosstat

UFA, 6 October 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. Inflation renewed the historical minimum. In September, prices rose by only 3% compared to September last year, according to Rosstat.
Compared to August, they decreased by 0.1%, that is, Rosstat recorded a monthly deflation, unusual for September. Last time when September prices fell compared with August was recorded in 2011 (minus 0.04%), RBC reports.
For a month, food prices fell by 0.7% (for the year they grew by 2%). Products in September went up by 0.3% compared to August (by 1.8% per year).
Core inflation adjusted for temporary volatility fell to 2.8% in annual terms.
On average, the cost of the minimum set of products exceeded 3729 rubles, having decreased by 2.9% per month.
Inflation, according to which the Central Bank this year reached its target of 4%, already fell below the target of the regulator in July (3.9%) and August, at that time making up 3.3% in annual terms. This was the lowest rate in the country's recent history.
According to the chairman of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina, the regulator's goal is "inflation near or about 4%", it "can fluctuate up and down, around 4%".
