It became known how consumer basket structure will change until 2021

UFA, 28 September 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. The Russian Government decided to keep a set of the consumer basket unchanged until 2021. This is due to the linking of the minimum wage to the subsistence minimum, which is calculated by the current food basket, Izvestia reports.

Previously, the Ministry of Labor planned to make adjustments to the minimum set of food products, taking into account the recommendations of the Ministry of Health.

According to Rosstat (the Federal State Statistics Service), the average cost of the consumer basket in August was 3,839.9 rubles, down 5.6% compared to the previous months. It includes 34 food products, including bread, fruit, vegetables, sugar, confectionery, seafood.

Some experts believe that the minimum set of the consumer basket should first of all meet the recommendations of the Ministry of Health. It is necessary to increase the number of fresh vegetables and fruit, while reducing the number of flour products and cereals. The expert noted that the current composition of the basket is irrelevant; consumers have not been buying such products for a long time.
