Central Bank will block sites with fraudulent financial schemes

UFA, 12 September 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. The Central Bank of Russia will check the Runet for a new type of banned information - used for fraud in the financial market. The bank will deal with the expertise of websites designed to implement fraudulent schemes in the financial market, and their subsequent blocking, Izvestia reports with reference to the CBR press service.

According to the state policy in the field of consumer protection, approved in August 2017 by the Chairman of the Government, Dmitry Medvedev, the financial regulator will be able to conduct an examination of the sites that operate "with violations of Russian law".

It is planned to give the Central Bank the right to decide on the inclusion of resources in a single register of prohibited sites (named the "black list" in the media).

To date, only Roskomnadzor is vested with powers to replenish the list of prohibited sites that are to be blocked in the Russian segment of the Internet.
