Bashkortostan is potential pilot program participant on labor productivity increase

UFA, 31 August 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. In 2017, Bashkortostan may be included in a number of pilot regions of the Russian Federation, where a regional program to increase labor productivity and support employment will be implemented. This was reported today by the Vedomosti newspaper citing a source in the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.
Later, at a meeting of the Presidential Council for Strategic Development and Priority Projects, which was held in a videoconference format by the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, a data sheet of the priority program "Improving Labor Productivity and Employment Support" was discussed, including a list of subjects of the Russian Federation implementing similar regional programs. The meeting was attended by the head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov.
The Prime Minister noted that the productivity of labor depends on how sustainable and competitive the economy was as a whole. Russia is still inferior in this indicator to developed countries. To solve these problems, a project on labor productivity was developed.
One of the directions of the program will be to form special measures for employed people and companies at the federal level. They presuppose tax incentives, personnel records modernization, support of self-employed citizens and labor mobility.
Regional programs for increasing labor productivity and supporting employment will also be developed. At the first stage, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia selected 16 regions where additional measures of state support would be applied at enterprises.
According to Vedomosti, this year the Ministry of Economic Development will select six potential participants of the program among the regions, the next year - another 10. In 2017 Samara, Tula, Tyumen regions, Perm Territory, Bashkortostan and Tatarstan may become its pilot regions.
In addition, a competence center will be created in the sphere of labor productivity at Vnesheconombank, which will be a "one-stop-shop service" for companies' access to available measures of state support.
