Rise in medicines prices has exceeded inflation three times

UFA, 4 August 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. The rise in medicines price not from the list of vital and essential drugs (VED) was more than three times higher than inflation this year. This is reported by «Izvestia».
According to the Central Bank, inflation in Russia since early 2017 was 2.3%.
The increase in prices for drugs for the first half of the year was 7.6%.
According to experts, pharmacies are trying to compensate for losses due to the regulation of prices for the VED categories, as well as for fall in medicines demand in the summer and the unstable exchange rate of the ruble.
The increase in the cost of medicines by 7.6% was reported by Roszdravnadzor (Federal Service for the Supervision of Public Health and Social Development) – it related the medicines not included in the VED list. The agency notes that the rise in price is 3.3 times higher than inflation occurred in the first six months of 2017.
The Roszdravnadzor reports that drugs of different price categories rose in price with varying intensity. Thus, prices for medicines worth up to 50 rubles rose by 1.8%, the segment of the price category from 50 to 500 rubles - by 7.9% and medicines more than 500 rubles by 7.9%.
Manufacturers, intermediaries and pharmacies define the prices for medicines not included in the VED list independently.
The cost of drugs from the VED list is regulated by the state since 2009 - the list of such medicines is annually approved by the government.
