Sale of alcohol on weekends can be universally banned in Russia
UFA, 17 July 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation is discussing a ban on sale of alcohol on weekends.
Such a proposal is set forth in the draft Strategy for the formation of a healthy lifestyle of the population, «Izvestiya» reports.
According to the developer - the state research centre for preventive medicine, such measure may be effective. Local authorities have the right to limit places and time of alcohol sales, but the bans that last more than one day are not practiced in the most part of the country.
The draft document stresses "no restrictions on sale of alcohol on weekends".
The Ministry of Health recalled that the regions have the authority to set time limits, conditions and places for retail sale of alcohol products, including completely prohibit the retail sale of alcohol. Now, according to the law "On state regulation of production and turnover of ethyl alcohol ...", a ban on the sale of alcohol operates in the country from 23.00 to 08.00.
