Russian Agriculture Ministry intends to promote "Bashkir Honey" abroad

UFA, 6 July 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia intends to promote traditional Russian products in the foreign markets, in the name of which the place of origin is indicated, Izvestiya reports. The department is developing a Concept of Agricultural Products Support and Promotion within the framework of the "Export of Agricultural Products" priority project. Experts say that the Russian food is now poorly known abroad - its share in the export structure is only 5%. Promotion of premium products to foreign markets will also contribute to the development of tourism, experts say.
Such samples for export as Vologda Butter, Bashkir Honey, "Narzan" mineral water, Altai Cheese, Krasnodar wines, Lukhovitsk cucumbers were named. However, the latter "will not pass" the selection: domestic production of vegetables does not meet foreign standards for biological and agrochemical composition.
As part of the program, the Government intends to modernize the system of ensuring safety of agricultural products and food, as well as supervision of cattle and plant health and control over the origin of goods. The Draft Concept will be submitted for discussion after July 10.
