Bashkiria will become pilot region in Roskomos tests of drones control system
UFA, 23 May 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Alfiya Agliullina/. Bashkortostan will be the first pilot region to test the control system for flight of small unmanned aerial systems (UAS) - in the future the results of the development will be scaled for the whole country.
The all-Russian system of control over the UAS flights, including for the flights of light quadrocopters, will be tested before the end of 2017, after which it is expected its phased implementation. This was told by the chief designer of the system, a representative of the Russian Space Systems (part of the Roskosmos state corporation) Mikhail Kirechko in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"It is planned that a prototype infrastructure will be ready by the end of 2017. Now the first pilot region is planned - the Republic of Bashkortostan. This is one of the most advanced subjects of the Russian Federation in terms of the level of development and growth of geo-information systems introduction. In the near future, there is planned to launch a project to monitor the road infrastructure with the help of drones", said Mikhail Kirechko.
According to him, the Russian satellite navigation system GLONASS will be the basis of the UAS flight control infrastructure. The new system will help to avoid the collision of quadrocopters, make their flights over airports and military facilities impossible, and will allow monitoring their movements. It's about installing special software on drones, which the corporation is developing now.
It is reported that the project is being developed by Roskosmos in cooperation with four other state corporations and agencies, including Rostelecom and Rosaviatsia.
