557 small villages are provided with digital equality in Bashkiria

UFA, 5 May 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. In Bashkortostan, 557 small villages included in the list of the Russian Ministry of Communications program "Digital Inequality Elimination" are provided with broadband Internet access with a minimum speed of 10 megabits per second until March 31, 2017. Total, it includes 929 settlements with a population of 250 to 500 people.
The project in the country is implemented by Rostelecom since 2014, in the republic – by Bashinformsvyaz (which in 2015 became the property of Rostelecom, but retained its name). As the General Director Marat Dolgaryshinnykh informed, the enterprise expects the following list to continue its work.
"The technology is as follows: in the centre of the settlement an equipment mounting base is installed that distributes Wi-Fi. The cost of the service is 45 rubles per month, access to the public services is free" Dolgaryshinnykh informed.
As Vedomosti learned, the funds for the project were received from the universal communication services foundation replenished at the expense of all operators: they deduct 1.2% of revenue there. The provision of broadband access to 557 Bashkir villages cost 185 million rubles.
