French industrial companies intend to develop cooperation with Bashkortostan

Prospects for investment cooperation between Bashkortostan and France, opportunities for localization and creation of new industries in the territory of our republic were discussed today during a meeting of the Head of the Region Rustem Khamitov with representatives of the French companies.

Their visit was organized by the Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry headed by its General Director Pavel Shinsky. The meeting was attended by representatives of companies operating in energy, oil and gas industries, instrument making, as well as members of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry RB Azat Fazlyev.

"I want to express my gratitude to the Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which does a lot in terms of trade and economic ties between Bashkortostan and French business", Rustem Khamitov said. "Creation of favourable working conditions for domestic and foreign entrepreneurs is one of the most important tasks of the Government RB. We have a good experience with French entrepreneurs. We are open to dialogue with responsible business. "

Following the meeting Azat Fazlyev said that the French colleagues expressed their readiness to localize a number of productions in the territory of our republic.

"Interesting projects in the field of energy, medical services were announced", he said. "Today the world leaders were present which had successful experience in Russia. We have a real opportunity to attract these world competencies to our region in order to solve the available tasks in the republic. "

The volume of foreign trade turnover of Bashkortostan with France amounted to 61.3 million dollars in 2016. 60 percent of this amount (36.8 million dollars) were accounted for export, 40 percent (24.5 million dollars) for imports.

Among the products exported from Bashkortostan to France were diesel fuel (84 percent) and fuel oil (16 percent). Rubber, charcoal, hot-rolled bars, fiberglass were exported in small amounts. The main import items were machinery and equipment (50 percent), insulin and syringes (32 percent), chemical products (10 percent) - catalysts, plastic and rubber products, cosmetics, as well as ceramic products, metal products, bakery and alcohol products.
