Rural economic model should be redefined - Rustem Khamitov

UFA, 5 April 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. The Head of Bashkortostan, Rustem Khamitov, believes that the economic model that has developed in rural areas requires changes. This was stated in his speech at the panel of the Ministry of Economic Development RB.

“Today we experience the main problems in the country. More than 1.5 million people live there. And there are the biggest problems with jobs there. Still, we do not have a clear policy regarding new jobs creation in the countryside", said Rustem Khamitov. “120-130 thousand people go to other regions seeking for jobs. And we continue to pretend that we are satisfied with the existing economic situation in the countryside.”

Taking into account the fact that large investors are reluctant to develop new territories, the Head of the Region considers it necessary to develop actively cooperatives in rural regions.

“In this part, I increasingly stress the fact that we need to redefine the economic model that has developed in the countryside today. I am talking about consumers' cooperatives, about new forms of production tools ownership in the form of public enterprises," said Rustem Khamitov.

The Head of the Republic cited the international experience of cooperative associations as an example and appealed to the heads of municipalities with demand to pay special attention to the topic of cooperation.
