Bashkortostan was one of first to calculate greenhouse gas emissions

UFA, 30 March 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. Bashkortostan was among the first subjects where an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions was conducted. The information was announced in Novosibirsk during a training seminar on this type of activity. Six more regions also voluntarily and in a timely manner counted the greenhouse gas volumes according to the data of 2014. Moscow in the year before last emitted 74.7 million tons of carbon dioxide, Bashkortostan - 50.2 million tons, YNAO - 36.1 million, Voronezh and Sakhalin 8.5 million, Buryatia - 8.2 million, Altai-1, 3 million tons. The total volume of recorded emissions of these regions was 187.5 million tons of carbon dioxide.

Greenhouse gases emission is counted in the framework of the Action Plan preparation by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, which should ensure by 2020 the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions to a level not exceeding 75 percent of the year of 1990. At present, an inventory of greenhouse emissions for 2015 is being conducted, the Ministry of Ecology RB informed.

Experts believe that the presence of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is the main cause of global warming and is due to industrial production and irresponsible attitude to natural resources.
