Bashkiria is second in Russia in greenhouse vegetables production
UFA, 29 March 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. Bashkortostan took the second place in Russia by volume of of greenhouse vegetables industrial production in 2016. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture RB with reference to the «Agroinvestor» magazine.
In general, in 2016, 66.5 thousand tons of greenhouse vegetables were produced in the republic. This is by 0.5 percent more than in 2015. At the same time, the harvest of cucumbers decreased by 9.6 percent - up to 44.4 thousand tons. The production of tomatoes increased by 26 percent and reached 21,200 tons.
The Krasnodar Territory is still the leader in production of greenhouse vegetables in Russia - 88 thousand tons for 2016.
Bashkortostan takes the second place - 66.5 thousand tons. The third place is occupied by Karachay-Cherkessia - 45.8 thousand tons. The Stavropol Territory is in the fourth place with 42.4 thousand tons. The Republic of Tatarstan closes the top five in production of vegetables - 37.7 thousand tons.
Thus, according to the "Agroinvestor", these five regions together last year collected more than 280 thousand tons of greenhouse vegetables, or 34 percent of the total harvest received by Russian agricultural organizations.
