Beekeepers will be able to freely use "Bashkir honey" brand in Bashkiria

UFA, 16 March 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. In Bashkortostan, the right to "Bashkir honey" brand is demonopolized. For the first time, a private company received a certificate for the right to use brand implying territorial affiliation of the sweet product. Before that, during the last 12 years, the only patent holder was the Bashkir Research Centre for Beekeeping and Apitherapy. Even beekeepers of the republic were prohibited to use the "Bashkir honey" name on the product labels.

As it was stated at the press conference within the framework of the "AgroComplex-2017" exhibition, demonopolization of the industry will create effective competition.

"Excellent conditions have appeared to support honey producers of our republic, because the brand "Bashkir honey" is connected to the local territory. And in this situation, all our manufacturers will receive this preference,” said the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry RB Azat Fazlyev.

Today in Bashkortostan there are 357 thousand bee colonies. Their main share is in the private sector - 301 thousand (84%), peasant farms - 42 thousand (12), 14 thousand bee families in agricultural enterprises (4). Last year, the region produced 11 thousand tons of gross honey, including 5.4 thousand tons of commodity honey.
