Bashkortostan ranks seventh in Russia in number of issued bank cards

UFA, 10 February 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. Bashkortostan maintains a leading position in number of issued bank cards, ranking seventh in the Russian banking sector - 6.3 million cards. Such data are disclosed by the National Bank Branch in the Republic of Bashkortostan Urals Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia.

As of January 1 this year, there were more than five thousand ATMs for transactions with payment cards and 42 thousand POS terminals to pay for goods and services.

As it was noted at the press conference by the executive manager of the National Bank RB Marat Kashapov, most ATMs are equipped with a function allowing making payments for goods and services, including public utilities and communication services.

Last year, the share of non-cash transactions with payment cards amounted to 72.9 percent according to their number and 25.1 percent on amount of the transactions. In 2015, they accounted for 70.9 and 21.1 percent, respectively.

The volume of paid services to the population, public catering and retail trade paid by payment cards has increased in the region by 3.7 percentage points compared with 2015, and amounted to 17 percent.
