Ministry of Labour has denied information about retirement age increasing

UFA, 1 February 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. The Russian Government has not yet made a decision on retirement age increasing. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
Earlier media informed that the government had decided to raise the retirement age. However, it was not defined with the parameters to what age it would be raised and when to report on amendments.
The press service of the Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Government Olga Golodets confirmed the absence of decisions to raise the retirement age.
The issue of raising the retirement age has been discussed in Russia not for the first year already. Now men retire at 60 years, women – at 55. The Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko and the head of the Ministry of Labour said earlier that there would not be a decision on this issue in 2017.
In turn, representatives of the Communist Party proposed to introduce a moratorium on raising retirement age till January 2025.
