Bank of Russia has approved design of 200 and 2000-ruble banknotes

UFA, 1 February 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Russia approved the design of the 200 and 2000-ruble banknotes.
The 200-ruble banknote will depict symbols of Sevastopol - a monument to the scuttled ships and views of Chersonesos Taurica. The 2000-ruble banknote will feature the famous places of the Far East - the bridge to the Russkiy Island in Vladivostok and Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Amur region, according to the Central Bank website.
Earlier, the head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina stated that the new banknotes would go into circulation in late 2017.
The decision of the Bank of Russia Board of Directors was taken on the basis of the all-Russian contest for selection of symbols for the new banknotes, which will be put into circulation in late 2017.
The selecting contest for the new banknotes was conducted from June to October 2016. More than 5000 nominees - sights from 1113 Russian cities participated in it.
The long list of the contest included 76 sights from 49 regions.
Following the results of the nationwide sociological study 10 finalists were chosen.
The last stage of the contest, which was attended by more than 3 million people, defined the winners - the symbols of the Far East and Sevastopol. The contest results were announced on October 7, 2016 on the TV channel "Russia 1".
