Minimum subsistence level is lowered in Russia

UFA, 5 December 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. The Russian Government has lowered the subsistence level for the 3rd quarter. Its value amounted to 9889 rubles per capita, which is by 67 rubles less in relation to the previous quarter, according to RBC.
The subsistence minimum for the able-bodied population is set at 10,678 rubles, for pensioners – at 8136 rubles, for children – at 9668 rubles.
In the second quarter of this year, the nationwide subsistence level amounted to 9956 rubles, for able-bodied population - 10 722 rubles, pensioners - 8163 rubles, children – 9861 rubles.
For the first quarter 2016 the subsistence level per capita was 9776 rubles.
The subsistence minimum in general and in the subjects of Russia is determined quarterly on the basis of the consumer basket. Since 2000, the subsistence minimum is determined on average per capita, as well as by three socio-demographic groups (able-bodied population, pensioners, children), and is established by the Government.
The consumer basket includes a minimum set of food and non-food products and services, which cost is determined in relation to the cost of the minimum set of food required for human health.
