"Black-box" recorders can be installed in all cars in Russia - "Izvestia"

UFA, 10 November 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. "Black-box" recorders can be installed in all cars in Russia. The government has approved an offer to equip every single vehicle with tracking devices of location and technical condition, the newspaper "Izvestia" reports. The issue of the project cost is not discussed yet - the idea and shape of its implementation are considered so far. It is necessary to develop design and scheme of introduction of intelligent telematic systems (ITS).

Trucks and passenger buses are equipped with onboard devices now - tachographs and GLONASS terminals. In addition, heavy vehicles must have a "Platon" system device collecting tolls on federal roads. It is already known that since 2020, all motor-vehicles manufactured in the countries of the Customs Union should be equipped with "ERA-GLONASS" terminals (emergency response in case of accidents).

Experts believe that a telematics service uniform for all motor vehicles would be preferable.
